SAM is Getting Closer

The System for Award Management being rolled out from acquisition.gov and encompassing 9 different acquisition systems will be phased-in beginning in May of this year (reportedly).  I know I have touched on the system previously, but I wanted to pull a little more information in now that the introduction of the system is approaching.

The System for Award Management (SAM) is combining nine systems the federal community and those who want to do business with the government use regularly. As a new system, SAM will streamline processes, eliminate data redundancies, and save money through consolidated operations.

The systems being changed over with the first Phase of the project are:  CCR/FedReg, ORCA, and EPLS.  Subsequently, the remainder of the 9 systems will be phased-in to the new location (eSRS/FSRS, CFDA, FBO, WDOL, FPDS-NG).  It is probably a good idea to get familiar with the system now since some of the systems cutting over will be critical to getting and keeping contracts (especially ORCA and CCR) as well as complying (EPLS).
