It is a Good Time to be a Green Contractor

Energy, the lack of energy, and the ways to produce it and maintain it for the future has really taken on an increasing role in the “Tone from the Top” coming out of the government.  If you make the assumption that the gentry will be led by the ruling class (government) to do things that would (or would not) be in their best interest, the recent memo out of the White House may help the energy focus change.

Most notably, the President calls for $2B in spending to be put toward energy efficiency in the government.

(b) The Federal Government shall enter into a minimum of $2 billion in performance-based contracts in Federal building energy efficiency within 24 months from the date of this memorandum. Each agency shall include its anticipated total performance-based contract volume in its plan submitted pursuant to subsection (d) of this section.

So the contracts will be coming soon for those companies that are already green or “greening.”  Watch www.fbo.gov for releases of contracts for these efficiencies over the next 3-4 years.

What has your company done to go green?  Are you a company that specializes in helping other companies (or agencies) go green?
