GSA Establishes Agency Social Media Registry

As announced on a blog post by Justin Herman of GSA’s Center for Excellence in Digital Government, GSA has created a social media registry for federal agencies list their accounts on 22 social media platforms.

The registry, which is now available at HowTo.gov for agencies to start entering and editing their data, provides a central place for agencies to register their accounts so they don’t have to build a solution within each agency. The public can also access the registry to verify if accounts are bona fide government accounts.

The types of social media accounts that can be verified are:
• Blip
• Disqus
• Facebook
• Flickr
• Foursquare
• Github
• Google+
• IdeaScale
• LinkedIn
• Livestream
• Meetup
• Myspace
• Posterous
• Scribd
• Slideshare
• Socrata
• Tumblr
• Twitter
• Uservoice
• Ustream
• Vimeo
• Youtube
