GAO Releases New Mobile Application for iPhone and iPad

Eariler today, the Government Accountability Office issued a press release (posted in its entirety below) announcing the availability of a new mobile application for Apple devices such as iPhone and iPad. According to the press release, the app is now available via the iTunes store and provides “simple” mobile access to new  reports, testimonies, videos, and podcasts. No news yet on when GAO will provide a similar app for Android users.  Have you had the opportunity to download and tool around with GAO’s new app? WASHINGTON, DC (March 6, 2012) — The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is continuing its efforts to disseminate its work through the use of emerging technologies by releasing a new mobile application. The free app – available to users of Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads – provides direct, simple mobile access to new reports, testimonies, videos, and podcasts.

“GAO is committed to ensuring that our work is as accessible as possible, both to Congress and to the public,” said Gene L. Dodaro, Comptroller General of the United States and head of GAO. “On Capitol Hill and beyond, our users are increasingly accessing our work from their mobile devices. The GAO app will help them get the information they need when and where they need it.”

The GAO app joins other GAO digital initiatives that include podcasts, online videos and report graphics, and a presence on Facebook and Twitter.
